Emergency and extraordinary closure
What we have in the Personnel Policy now:
The Senior Pastor in consultation with the President, or (if that person is not available) the Vice-President, or (if that person is not available) the Chair of the Diaconate, may determine that it is in the best interest of the Church to be closed due to weather or other conditions. If an Employee has already begun work then they will be paid the remainder of their work shift. Should the Church be closed before an Employee has arrived and begun their shift they will receive no compensation.
Proposed revision:
The Senior Pastor may determine that it is in the best interest of the Church to be closed due to weather or other conditions. Staff members are allowed to decide if their own commute is unsafe. If the Church is closed, or if some staff cannot be at the Church, the Senior Pastor will make sure any necessary work is done and workload is distributed equitably. Any re-distribution of workload could include: working from home, shifting work to other time slots, paid time off, unpaid time off, or use of vacation time. The Senior Pastor will let HRC know of any adjustments to hours worked and employees will communicate with Finance via their normal payroll input.
All Church meetings are cancelled on School Snow days. Outside groups with keys, and any Church members, may use the Church based on their own assessment of conditions.
