Youth Ministry Coordinator
First Congregational Church of Essex Junction is looking for a Youth Ministry Coordinator to join our team!
Position: “Part-time” as defined in the Personnel Policies
Supervisor: Senior Pastor
Position is supported by: Senior Pastor, Christian Education (CE) Committee, and Human Resources Committee
Position Description:
Primary responsibility is leading youth programs, 6th-12th grade, in support of the mission, vision, and values of the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction (FCCEJ).
Job Requirements:
- Prior work with youth, preferably grades 6-12
- A Christian faith and genuine interest in working with youth
- Work week includes Sundays
- A demonstrated ability to support and work with youth, parents and volunteers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Collaborative spirit and ability to work with a broad range of people, including pastoral and administrative staff, committee leaders and other volunteers
- Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with others
- Strong organizational skills
- Clear Results of a Background Check
Programmatic Responsibilities:
- Continue to develop the Youth program
- Recruit and train volunteers to support the Youth programs
- Organize and participate in youth programs and activities
- Engage with youth to participate in FCCEJ-based programs and encourage spiritual growth
- Schedule and train youth staffing the Nursery
- Keep volunteers, parents, congregation abreast of pertinent information via email/phone/mail, bulletins, newsletters, website, social media, etc.
- Participate in continuing Christian Education activities
- Work with CE Committee, pastors, and staff to accomplish the long and short term goals of the CE Committee. Carry out projects and decisions made by the CE Committee to strengthen and enrich the education and experience of children in youth ministry and work cooperatively with staff and Church leadership to fulfill the mission of the Church
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend church staff meetings and CE meetings
- Maintain a budget for areas of oversight, and work with the Senior Pastor and Christian Education Committee during the annual budget process to indicate financial resources needed for the adequate performance of the work.
- Maintain attendance records and monitor/review class sizes
- Organize and conduct a minimum of two (2) Youth Group fire drills per year
- Learn and abide by Safe Church policies.
- Maintain record of youth/parent contact information and calendar of events
- Coordinate background checks on all volunteers working with youth
- Purchase necessary books and supplies, and keep detailed records of activities
- Participate in performance review process as outlined in Personnel Policies

Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $18-22 hour based on experience for expected work hours of 20-25 hours/week with reduced responsibility during summer months.

Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist
First Congregational Church of Essex Junction is looking for a Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our team!
Position: “Part-time” as defined in the Personnel Policies
Supervisor: Senior Pastor
Position is supported by: Senior Pastor, Communications Committee, and Human Resources Committee
Position Description:
Part-time role to manage digital presence for First Congregational Church of Essex Junction (FCCEJ) in support of our mission, vision, and values.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency with social media, especially Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube
- Ability to learn new skills, processes, and technologies
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office or analogous programs
- Create cohesive and consistent output in varying styles while working with staff, committees and other church interests.
- Successfully translate communications requests and needs into outputs that are succinct, clear, compelling, and motivating
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of WordPress or similar Content Management System
- Knowledge of an email distribution platform
- Knowledge of Microsoft Publisher
- Knowledge of graphics and design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar
- Strong time management skills
- Self-driven, creative problem-solving
Responsibilities:
Social Media Oversight & Management: Oversee and manage our social media channels, under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and with the assistance of lay volunteers as appropriate. Create social media content that helps spread our mission, vision, and values. Learn and abide by Safe Church policies.
Website Management: Update website as needed, working with staff and lay leaders to produce new copy and content. Maintain fresh images on the site, working with volunteers to take new photos of church events and ministries. When appropriate, coordinate a website refresh consistent with our identity.
Content Creation: Proactively work with church staff and committees to stimulate content generation and assist in its shaping and refinement. Manage the deployment of content across various media and platforms, prioritize the natural “fit” of content to platform in order to maximize potential impact.
Public Relations & Advertising: Work with local and regional media, as well as with wider church communicators, to place stories and ads as needed about First Congregational Church of Essex Junction’s ministries and events.
Live Streaming Support: Assist with the continued building of technological infrastructure and operational workflows necessary to sustain and improve our online live streaming of worship and other events. Be responsible for the training of volunteers to operate live streaming systems on Sunday mornings and other needed times. Working from the information provided by the organizers, ensure the timely creation of live stream display materials for worship services or special events.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend bi-weekly staff meetings, monthly Communications Committee meetings.
- Maintain a budget for areas of oversight, and work with the Communications Committee during the annual budget process to indicate financial resources needed for the adequate performance of the work.
- Collaborate with the Church Administrator on identifying the most productive workflows and divisions of duties between the Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist and the Church Administrator regarding the ongoing production and maintenance of regularly occurring communications media such as bulletin announcements, all-church weekly emails, and monthly newsletters.
- Participate in performance review process as outlined in Personnel Policies
- Other related duties as assigned
