2022 Advent / Christmas at First Church
We have many ways for you to dig deeper into your faith this season, and we hope that you’ll join us for these special Advent celebrations.
Active Advent Calendar
Click the button to the left to view the Active Advent Calendar that Laurie and Jen created. Print it out and place it on your fridge, next to your bible or a common place for all to see. Do the activities on the day they are printed or the day that week that works best for you. Enjoy your ‘walk’ through the Advent season.
Blue Christmas
Sunday December 11th – 3:00 pm
Many of us find the holiday season to be difficult as we remember loved ones that are no longer physically with us or deal with dysfunctional family issues that seem to grow during this period of time. The Blue Christmas service will lift up these times and put them in the context of a comforting and loving God. There will also be an opportunity for healing offered by our ordained clergy and Deacons. Everyone is welcome at this service, and if you know someone that is hurting, reach out and offer to bring them with you.
Pageant Sunday
Sunday December 18th – both services
Come to church, or watch the 8:30 streamed service, to see our church presentation of the annual Christmas pageant. This year we’ll enjoy something a little different… several adults will join the youth in the presentation of the ageless story of Christ’s birth. This service is always positive and fun, and it’s a great opportunity to invite a friend to join you in worship.
Christmas Eve
Family Service – 5:00 pm
We will have our popular, kid-friendly service directly in front of the church outside on the steps and the lawn. There will be special guests that will tell the story of Christ’s birth, and this is a great service to bring guests with young kids.
Updated Dec. 22nd – due to the weather forecast the Deacons and Staff have decided to move this service INSIDE.
Lessons & Carols – 9:00 pm
Our traditional service with readings of the bible passages with the birth narrative and our musicians sing of the glory of God. We are also blessed to have a baptism planned.
This service will also be available online via our YouTube channel here.
Contemplative Service – 11:00 pm
A quieter service that includes the sacrament of Holy Communion. We will have music led by the Finally @ First band, and we’ll light candles at midnight.
Christmas Day
Sunday, December 25th – 10:00 am
We will have ONE SERVICE to celebrate the birth of the Christ child. Pastor Josh will lead our service and we’ll have a carol-sing, a time for reflection & meditation, and Christmas treats. This will be an all-family worship service.
