Sermon Talkback

Join us on Tuesdays from 8:30-10 am for coffee, home-baked goods and a lively discussion of the sermon (and other topics!) that was delivered the previous Sunday. Come for the conversation, the goodies, the camaraderie, or all of the above! Join us – all are welcome!

You can participate in person in the Marvin Lounge or online via Zoom HERE.

Bible Study

A few times a year Mary McHugh will lead a group in Bible Study. Each session will focus on a book from either the Old or New Testament. Discussion and questions are welcome and encouraged – this is a great opportunity to learn from each other and dig deeper into the history and context of scripture, and explore what it means for our lives today.

Current Study: Esther

Dates & Time: February 13th, March 13th and 27th from 1:30 – 3:00 pm

Join us in exploring the book of Esther. We will be using a study guide by Max Lucado – “You Were Made for this Moment.” If you would like to order the study guide ($11), please let Mary McHugh know or call the Church Office. The guide will be helpful, but you can join the study without it.

Coffee Clatter @ Martone’s

Every Friday at 8 am, Rev. Mark welcomes everyone to come and talk about any subject you would like. We talk politics, camping, travel, church life, community issues … any and everything that comes up. We meet at Martone’s in downtown Essex Junction for one hour ~ join us!

Noontime Book Group

Join us for fellowship, lunch and a good lively discussion.  The Noontime Book Group meets on the third Monday each month at 11:30 in the Marvin Lounge.  We read books from many genres.  Each month we choose a book, and usually the person who suggested the book leads the discussion the next month.  If you love to read,  bring a brown bag lunch, and come enjoy some good conversation.
  • The book for February is “The Stolen Queen” by Fiona Davis.

Wednesday Night Searchers

The Wednesday Night Searchers group explores the faith with a number of different methods: books, movies, TED Talks, directed studies, etc. Please join us Wednesday evenings from 7 – 9 pm in the Marvin Lounge; come for the study or come to be a part of a great supportive group of friends.

Wednesdays 7-9 pm

Marvin Lounge (*masks optional*) and via Zoom

The group is reading & discussing “The Practice of the Presence of God”. This is a classic book – in fact Rev. Mark read it while he was in seminary a few (ahem) years ago. It is a small book that contains conversations with Brother Lawrence who found God in all aspects of his life as he was working in the kitchen, kneeling in prayer, collecting food from the garden, at all points of his daily life he knew was a way to get to know and understand God.

We are reading this book a little differently. Each week we will read a section of the book with all attendees taking turns (if they want) reading a portion out loud, and we will discuss ideas that stand out as we are reading. As stated earlier, this book is small and we will be reading it through February 11th; finishing it the week before the beginning of Lent.

Bridge Group

Each month people who like to play bridge come together and do just that on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from 1:30 – 4:00 in the Marvin Lounge. All types of skill levels come to have fun, eat some snacks and talk. We usually have two to three tables and everyone is welcome, so bring a friend!

20/30s Gatherings

Folks in their 20s and 30s gather together for potluck dinners. We connect young adults together for friendship and support discussing a broad range of topics each time. Child care is not provided.  To connect with this group, email Pastor Mark, mmendes@fccej.org.
