New Member\u2019s Class<\/h3>

First Church loves welcoming new members!<\/p>\n

Their personalities, ideas, insights, diversity, volunteerism and leadership abilities strengthen our church and create a faith community better able to spread the love of Christ. First Church is a healthy and vibrant church whose members offer friendship, kindness, intellectual inquiry and love to everyone.\u00a0We have numerous activities for all ages of service, fellowship, education, spirituality and worship.<\/p>\n

First Church has roughly 450 active members and together we seek to make our local community, country and world a better place in which to live.\u00a0We welcome everyone who wants to join us in this venture.<\/p>\n

Those interested in becoming members of First Church are invited to join us for a\u00a0New Member\u2019s Class<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0where we get to know each other, learn about First Church and get an understanding of our denomination – the United Church of Christ.\u00a0We offer two to three new member classes each year and hold them after worship on Sunday mornings, providing lunch and child care if needed. Each class lasts a couple of hours.<\/p>\n

After discovering who we are as a faith community, attendees are invited to formally join the church at an upcoming worship service where we celebrate the new members\u2019 decision and promise as a congregation to work together to do the work of the church.<\/p>\n

Upon joining, members are eligible to vote at any Congregational Meetings of the church including the Annual Meeting, attend or serve on any committee, or serve in any position of the church.\u00a0There are additional privileges that come with membership like reduced prices for use of the church facilities. Most importantly, all members are equals within a community of faith that is journeying together to spread Christ\u2019s love and make the world a better place.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n
