You can participate in person in the Marvin Lounge or online via Zoom HERE.

Yoga @ First  is coming back!

New to yoga? Returning? Come sit with Jonah and practice a compassionate, inquisitive sequence to integrate the mind, body, and soul. In each session, we will focus, breathe, build heat, strengthen, and relax. Classes start September 13th and meet on Tuesday evenings, from 5:00-6:15 at the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction. Wear comfortable, non restrictive clothing. Bring a mat or borrow one of Jonah’s. Donations (to the Church) welcome, but not required.

Coffee Clatter @ Martone’s

Every Friday at 8 am, Rev. Mark welcomes everyone to come and talk about any subject you would like. We talk politics, camping, travel, church life, community issues … any and everything that comes up. We meet at Martone’s in downtown Essex Junction for one hour ~ join us!

Noontime Book Group

Join us for fellowship, lunch and a good lively discussion.  The Noontime Book Group meets on the third Monday each month at 11:30 in the Marvin Lounge.  We read books from many genres.  Each month we choose a book, and usually the person who suggested the book leads the discussion the next month.  If you love to read,  bring a brown bag lunch, and come enjoy some good conversation.
  • The book for April is “The Women in Black” by Madeleine St. John.

Wednesday Night Searchers

The Wednesday Night Searchers group explores the faith with a number of different methods: books, movies, TED Talks, directed studies, etc. Please join us Wednesday evenings from 7 – 9 pm in the Marvin Lounge; come for the study or come to be a part of a great supportive group of friends.

Wednesdays 7-9 pm

Marvin Lounge (*masks optional*) and via Zoom

The group will be reading and discussing “The Book of Hope” by Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams. Drawing on decades of work that has helped expand our understanding of what it means to be human and what we all need to do to help build a better world, The Book of Hope touches on vital questions, including: How do we stay hopeful when everything seems hopeless? How do we cultivate hope in our children? What is the relationship between hope and action? Filled with moving and inspirational stories and photographs from Jane’s remarkable career, The Book of Hope is a deeply personal conversation with one of the most beloved figures in the world today.

“Despite the many issues of our collective culture, The Book of Hope is a perfect example of how we can still dream and create a better world. It’s an amazing book that takes you on an extraordinary journey, and once you read it, you too will experience the many profound reasons for hope.” — Deepak Chopra, MD

Bridge Group

Each month people who like to play bridge come together and do just that on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from 1:30 – 4:00 in the Marvin Lounge. All types of skill levels come to have fun, eat some snacks and talk. We usually have two to three tables and everyone is welcome, so bring a friend!

20/30s Gatherings

Folks in their 20s and 30s gather together for potluck dinners. We connect young adults together for friendship and support discussing a broad range of topics each time. Child care is not provided.  To connect with this group, email Pastor Mark, mmendes@fccej.org.
